Mark Briggs, CIO, Essex County Council |
|
Mark is currently CIO of Essex County Council. He joined ECC as a consultant in May 2006 and was appointed CIO just over a year ago.
His major achievement at Essex to date has been overseeing the successful in-sourcing of their IT operation, which was outsourced to BT Global Services, without any significant issues or problems.
Prior to joining Essex, Mark worked for Anderson Consulting, IBM and Microsoft. At both IBM and Microsoft he fulfilled a lead technical architect role based both in the UK and in Seattle.
His view of technology is that it should be powerful, easy to use, but with significant customisability for power users. He is an advocate of cloud computing and software as a service and believes that in house infrastructure should be kept to a minimum wherever possible, to increase simplicity and drive down cost.
As a consumer, technology pervades his life and he is a particular fan of Apple products. He is also an ardent fan of Chelsea Football club. |
